Draft week. Finally.
Also, Liverpool beat Everton in the 2nd game contest between the two. When two teams face each other, with the two teams sharing the same city, it’s called a “derby.” One game at home, one game at their stadium, similar to NFL Divisional home & away series. This series between Everton & Liverpool is called The Merseyside Derby. Reds vs. Blues is another descriptor used. It’s contentious, there are plenty of fouls every time.
The Liverpool home crowd in the Liverpool end of Anfield stadium are considered to be arguably the loudest, the most intense in the English Premier League. The crowd as a whole is immensely effective at both inspiring the home team while also intimidating visiting teams due to the pressure and constant crowd performance.
With a 0-0 draw late into the 2nd half, Left Back (LB) Andy Robertson heads a ball into the net to break the draw. The home end go absolutely bonkers.
Liverpool remain a single point behind league leading Manchester City. It will take City losing a game (0 points for a loss) or drawing (you still get a point when you end a game in a tie) AND Liverpool winning all remaining games these next few weeks for Liverpool to win the Premier League title.
It is on my bucket list to someday go to a Liverpool home game at Anfield. Go to the local pubs. See the sights in Liverpool, one of the world’s most important modern history harbors. Liverpudlians are diverse. A mix of Irish, Scottish, and all manner of mainland Brits as well as cultures from other countries.
