Rd. 1, Pick #3: Derek Stingley Jr. , CB, LSU

April 28, 2022 by Texans Chat

CB1 was the pick at #3 overall. The past few weeks have been rigorously delved into whether you believed one guy at CB1 was better at #3 than the other guy. Stingley ends up being the choice.

As I stated in the other thread for Kenyon Green, this thread is for hashing it all out but mostly for focusing on the guy we DO have. He’s the one we need to learn more about, even if he already knew a lot about him. Chat it up.

How I saw Derek Stingley on tape from 2019-2021…. a complete scouting report:https://t.co/06vhRWAWPZ#TexansDraft

Rd. 1, Pick #15: Kenyon Green, OG, Texas A&M

April 28, 2022 by Texans Chat

Well, everyone wondered and maybe even anticipated or perhaps wanted Caserio to trade down. He does, and it sees the Texans draft an IOL in Kenyon Green, OG, Texas A&M.

This thread is for posting reactions from the draftniks, such as their tweets and some clips of the newest Texan Offensive Lineman out of College Station. Cuss and discuss the selection, and let’s make this a good place to rally to for awhile as we get to know our new addition to the Texans roster.

In my final mock I had the Texans taking Kenyon Green at pick #13. No reason to think it's a different pick at #15. Ass-kicking interior blocker who can move people around. I'm hoping he's the pick here. Time to get tough up front and crank up the ground game! #TexansDraft

NFL Draft Round 1

April 28, 2022 by Texans Chat

Round 1 thread. No tweet embeds, no nothing except texts and emojis. Treat this like a game thread, please. Please read below for important details about tonight’s TexansChat commenting protocols.

PICK SPOILING: Lots of ways to watch the coverage of the Draft, and some of those reveal the pick before others do, so here’s the approach for you to follow:

  1. If you know you’re ahead of others on here, don’t spoil the pick(s).
  2. By now, you know better than to do that. It’s not like it’s a new revelation or anything, ok?
  3. If you do it, someone else will reply and point it out.
  4. If it gets pointed out, I will delete the string of comments involved and if you do it again you’ll be booted until tomorrow morning. So pay attention and play fairly.

EXTRA THREADS TONIGHT: I will have 1 or 2 extra threads at some point tonight, both of those being dedicated to the two players selected by the Texans in Round 1. In those threads, you can embed tweets like a normal Daily Thread so that we’ll have a thread for expanded conversations about those players. Think of these as a Postgame Thread of sorts.

I’m not sure what I’ll do for Friday night and the weekend Draft threads, but it’ll be communicated sometime tomorrow during the Daily Thread.

Draft week. Finally.

Also, Liverpool beat Everton in the 2nd game contest between the two. When two teams face each other, with the two teams sharing the same city, it’s called a “derby.” One game at home, one game at their stadium, similar to NFL Divisional home & away series. This series between Everton & Liverpool is called The Merseyside Derby. Reds vs. Blues is another descriptor used. It’s contentious, there are plenty of fouls every time.

The Liverpool home crowd in the Liverpool end of Anfield stadium are considered to be arguably the loudest, the most intense in the English Premier League. The crowd as a whole is immensely effective at both inspiring the home team while also intimidating visiting teams due to the pressure and constant crowd performance.

With a 0-0 draw late into the 2nd half, Left Back (LB) Andy Robertson heads a ball into the net to break the draw. The home end go absolutely bonkers.

Liverpool remain a single point behind league leading Manchester City. It will take City losing a game (0 points for a loss) or drawing (you still get a point when you end a game in a tie) AND Liverpool winning all remaining games these next few weeks for Liverpool to win the Premier League title.

It is on my bucket list to someday go to a Liverpool home game at Anfield. Go to the local pubs. See the sights in Liverpool, one of the world’s most important modern history harbors. Liverpudlians are diverse. A mix of Irish, Scottish, and all manner of mainland Brits as well as cultures from other countries.
