Daily Thread 5-5-2021

Wednesday’s thread. Created a lawsuit thread. I know there’s been little movement there, but that’s the place for hem’ing and haw’ing over the lawsuit stuff. So long as conversations in this daily thread are strictly about the impacts on the football side of things, then that’s OK. Comments having to do with the lawyers, plaintiffs, etc. will be deleted as that’s for the lawsuit thread.

Post-Draft Hangover Thread 5-2-2021

Cuss and discuss the Texans’ 2021 Draft, which was perhaps the most efficient Texans Draft I’ve ever seen. I’ve had bowel movements that lasted longer and had more memorable moments. Soon as it started, it was done with. Nick’s wheeling and dealing took 7 picks and whittled them down to just 5: A QB, a WR, a TE, a LB and a DT.

Houston Texans 2021 NFL Draft Picks:

  • Round 3: No. 67 – Davis Mills, QB, Stanford.
  • Round 3: No. 89 (from CLE through CAR) – Nico Collins, WR, Michigan.
  • Round 5: No. 147 – Brevin Jordan, TE, Miami.
  • Round 5: No. 170 (from CLE through JAX and LAR) – Garret Wallow, LB, TCU.
  • Round 6: No. 195 – Roy Lopez, DT, Arizona.

Nick signed some Practice Squad guys, too. As of about 11 p.m. CT Saturday night, this is them:

NFL Draft 2021: Rounds 2 & 3

Here’s the thread for Rounds 2 and 3 of the Draft. Rumor has it that the Texans will pick in the 3rd round at No. 67 overall, tonight, but anything can happen…a trade-up into the 2nd round (highly doubtful, IMO) or a trade-down, but either way *some type of Texans action* is bound to happen for 1st-year Texans GM Nick Caserio. One thing that won’t be happening is live video of BoB going mildly ape shit in his home office during broadcast coverage of a Texans draft pick, video in all its glory below. HOL. God how I wish it included audio…

From the Bleacher Report article: Television viewers apparently caught Bill O’Brien‘s live reaction as the Houston Texans watched a proposed trade fall apart during the 2020 NFL draft. 

According to the Houston Chronicle‘s John McClain, the Texans were prepared to deal the 90th overall pick to the Detroit Lions, except that Detroit “backed out at last instant.”

The camera inside O’Brien’s home showed him growing exasperated about something, with McClain reporting the abandoned trade was the source.

Daily Thread 4-29-2021

Thursday’s daily thread. I’ll have us a Draft Night thread for this evening’s event. Round 1 is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. Central Time, so I’ve set the thread to post at 6 p.m. Central Time. Not sure if there will be a Friday night Draft thread, so stay tuned for a decision (I’ll announce in Friday’s daily thread) sometime Friday. There’ll be a Weekend Draft thread in addition to the normal Weekend Discussion thread.
