Has there been any discussion of bringing this function back? It’s very useful and everyone wants it.”

The very first line of Beowulf begins with “Hwæt!” an old Anglo-Saxon interjection that has been translated in a number of different ways by various scholars throughout history. Sometimes it’s “Listen!” or “Hey!” or “So…” or “What ho!” or “Indeed,” but there is still not one specific translation that is universally accepted. Therefore, I personally like to think of it as a medieval version of this:
