Remember: Just text and emoji icons. No GIFs, no twitter embeds. Just text and emojis. NEW: All game threads will remain open, and the new Qtr. threads post with roughly 2 minutes remaining in a Qtr.
1st Qtr. Ravens vs. Texans: Week 2
2nd Qtr. thread will post with roughly 2 minutes left to play in the 1st Qtr. NEW: All game threads will remain open. In GAME THREADS, please follow these guidelines:
- trutxfan if he’s on, it’s customary for him to be the first comment of the Pregame thread and the 1st Quarter thread. I don’t make the rules on this, it’s how it’s been and how it will be. THIS IS THE WAY. If he passes the baton to someone if he can’t be there for it, then so be it.
- No GIFs, no uploaded photos, no embeds of any kind, no links (except for the Boyce situation, see below for details). If I see it, and I’ll be watching, I’ll delete it.
- Text and emoji icons are permitted.
- Each quarter will have its own thread and will post when there’s roughly 2 minutes to play in a Quarter. Only in rare instances will a Part 2 be created if a Quarter is slow and comments are piling up
- Overtime situations will always have it’s own thread. Always.
- If you don’t migrate to the new thread, that’s on you. If Boyce wants to put a link to the new thread, it’s customary for Boyce to do that because some traditions should never die. If any of you want to post a link to the new thread then that’s fine with me. It’s no biggie if multiple people post a link to a new thread.
- NEW IDEA: I’ll be leaving ALL GAME THREADS OPEN. You can migrate and move into the new thread(s) if you want, or hang back and finish up convos if you want, or drift around the various threads at halftime or after the game go back into each Quarter’s thread and have convos about things in those threads. Then I’ll close all the Game Threads down sometime the next day, except for the Postgame Thread that will stay up for a few days into the week.
Pre-Game Ravens vs. Texans: Week 2
Pre-Game thread, it’s OK to post as usual. 1st Qtr. thread posts at 3:00 p.m. CT and kickoff is set for 3:25 p.m. CT.
In the actual GAME THREADS, though, please follow these guidelines:
- trutxfan if he’s on, it’s customary for him to be the first comment of the Pregame thread and the 1st Quarter thread. I don’t make the rules on this, it’s how it’s been and how it will be. THIS IS THE WAY. If he passes the baton to someone if he can’t be there for it, then so be it.

Early Games Thread 9-20-2020
Hangout thread for the early games. The Ravens v. Texans Pre-Game Thread will post at 1:25 p.m. Central Time and the 1st Qtr. thread posts at 3:00 p.m. Central Time (Kickoff is 3:25 p.m. CT). Some rules (please read)…
Once the games kick off at noon, within this particular thread let’s transition into keeping it like a normal game thread where it’s just text and emoji icons (no gifs, no embeds)–This way the conversations as they happen during the early games can be easier for people to read and reply to.
The Texans Pre-Game thread will post at 1:25 p.m. Central Time, so any reporting of news such as twitter embeds, or embeds and GIFs of any kind, need to take place in the Pre-Game thread that will be open for about 2 hours before Ravens/Texans kickoff set for 3:25 p.m. Central Time. The 1st Qtr. thread will post at 3:00 p.m. Central Time.
Daily Thread 9-19-2020: Weekend Discussion
I’m alright. Don’t nobody worry about me. You got to give me a fight? Why don’t you just let me be? Bill Murray’s role was supposed to be a few lines, but he showed up and put on an improvisational master clinic and the rest is movie history.
Outtakes in this mini-documentary provide an interesting peek behind the scenes of the movie.
Ted Knight hates his hair mussed. Rodney Dangerfield was worried when nobody laughed at his scenes; he thought he was “bombing,” and he had to be told (paraphrased) “Rodney, we can’t laugh. We’re making a movie.”

Have a great weekend everyone, just don’t go throwing Baby Ruth candy bars into any swimming pools, OK?

Texans RB David Johnson says communication is the most difficult adjustment with a new team
By Mark Lane, TexansWire.com
Excerpt from the article: Johnson had the added disadvantage of not being able to participate in an offseason workout program. The NFL eliminated all offseason programs as the COVID-19 pandemic swept in and stagnated over the United States.
“It was definitely tough,” said Johnson. “We first off didn’t have [organized team activities]. That’s really important for a guy who’s getting traded or being on a new team is going through OTAs because that’s a great mental thing to go through and learning the plays because you got so many months before the first game.”
NFL Standings Week 1: Houston Texans at bottom of AFC South
By Stephen Forsha, ToroTimes.com

The Colts on the other hand, they lost to one of the potentially worst teams in the league, the Jacksonville Jaguars, by a 27-20 score in one of the biggest surprises of Week 1.
The Tennessee Titans played in the final game of the first NFL weekend, and they had to battle to the very last play to defeat the Denver Broncos on the road, winning with a field goal with 17 seconds left in the game at 16-14 on Monday Night Football.
Next week for the AFC South, the Jaguars will play at the Titans, the Colts will host the Minnesota Vikings, and the Houston Texans are hosting the Baltimore Ravens.

Texans secondary will be tested with Lamar Jackson coming to town
By Patrick Morgan, ToroTimes
Except from the article: Lamar Jackson, the reigning league MVP, looked like an extremely dangerous passer in Week 1… and he will be a tough test for the Houston Texans defense.
Last year, the Houston Texans were positively torched by the Baltimore Ravens… or, more specifically, by Lamar Jackson.
While Houston lost a laugher 41-7, it was the Ravens QB who really embarrassed the Texans that day, passing for four touchdowns and 222 yards through the air while chipping in an additional 79 yards on the ground. All in all, the former Louisville Cardinal had over 300 yards from scrimmage against an undermanned Texans D.
