Well folks, aside from being Tax Day, today is also the day Lincoln was shot and the Titanic sank. So in an effort to lighten the mood a bit, let’s instead remember that Jackie Robinson made his debut for the Brooklyn Dodgers on April 15, 1947. And if you haven’t seen it yet, I definitely recommend watching the 2013 film 42, starring Chadwick Boseman (who does a fantastic job).

I recently found out that, back in the 1930s and 1940s, there was a real professional baseball player named Johnny Dickshot. He was apparently known as the “Ugliest Man In Baseball,” and when he retired, he opened a tavern called Dickshot’s Dugout.
